The first thing that stands out to me about this image is the film noir quality to it. That appeals to me, and it adds a flavor of history as well as a touch of personality to the piece. I definitely like the sepia tone to the image. The second thing I notice, though, is that it appears to be blurry. For me, that detracts from the image. The grainy/blurry quality only appears when I view the larger image, though.

I am curious as to why you chose to photograph this particular segment of the building. Most people choose to center a doorway or large window, so it's a very different main subject to select. I find it to be an intriguing choice. The tree to the viewer's right of frame and the way that the branches stretch across the top of the frame, despite their distance from the building in the picture, almost make it seem as though it's an umbrella, protecting the aged structure. Another thing that I like about the angle is the steps, and the way that the stone next to the tree appears to be a part of the steps leading up to the side door of the building. One thing that would have made this more gripping would have been to - if possible - squat down so that the curb that's visible between the stone and the steps in front of the building would be eliminated from the image. It would complete the illusion and cement the surreal quality.

It's also intriguing that you chose to include the front door on the edge of the frame, cutting off the sign above it. It's a very interesting way of making sure that we focus on the architecture of the building, not what's housed within it, whether that be a brothel or a restaurant who can say? <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";P" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="454" title="Wink/Razz"/>

Overall, I definitely think it's an intriguing photo; as a writer, I'm looking at this image and imagining a million things that could have happened/be happening in that building. Thanks for sharing!
